Grand Knight's Report (from October 28th General Meeting) Welcome Worthy District Deputy Bruce Lines. I will keep this short due to the amount of items we have on the list to discuss tonight. Thank you all for coming out tonight. I know that some times the couch seems to be so much more comfortable, but coming out tonight shows that you care. Well team, we are growing… Last week we voted in 4 new members and tonight another 5. We are well on our way for a Double Star Award. Exiting Times… Our Program Directors have put together some great activities and ideas for the coming months. I’m truly looking forward to the year ahead. As one of my awesome tasks, I am able to give out some very deserving awards. The award going out tonight is for a brother that has taken on a huge undertaking with unbelievable passion and dedication. I know he spends many hours per week corresponding with districts across the country as well as packing up boxes that need to be sent across this same country. I’m referring to Brother Mike Abraniuk. He is our quarterback for the Keep Christ in Christmas project. To date we have sold over 23,000 magnets, mostly thanks to Brother Mike. It gives me great pleasure to present Mike the Knight of the Quarter award. Greatly deserved! Thank you for your efforts. As you would have noticed on Sunday, we have a new banner for our council. I would like to thank Brother Jack McLaughlin for getting this put together for us. It’s a beautiful banner and is hanging at the entrance of OLOV for the time being. Please stop by and have a look at it. Thank you for your time. Until next month, live, laugh and be happy, all while doing God’s work. Dale Hofer

District Deputy's Message Brother Knights, It is nice to see the activity in the council picking up in recent weeks. Being a fraternal organization allows us to have a close contact with others that have a strong moral conviction in keeping with our Catholic Faith. We nurture these lifelong friendships because of a common interest, one that stems from our faith and includes our Parish families. It is important to pass this kinship on to our children and grandchildren, lest they feel alienated and lose interest in the Church family. The younger generation thrives on activity and can cope with a multitude of issues that would tire out us older members. Between youth groups, youth activities such as free throw and soccer challenge or youth ministry, keep them busy and associating with other catholic youth and they will grow up to be productive members of the Church. -------------------------------------------------- Help is Needed in Two Key Areas Number 1....Charity Appeal When called upon to sell tickets, please don't decline if you can at all do it. We are responsible for 33.3% of the time to sell the tickets, and as of lately Council 4949 has been covering for us as we have not been helping out in the sales. If you have not been contacted and could spend a couple hours now and again, please let me know and I will get you hooked up. Thank you. Number 2....Bingo Roy Wylie has been organizing the Bingo Volunteers for a number of years now, (and doing an outstanding job) but it has come to a time to pass the torch on to another Knight. I am desperately asking someone to come forward to take this on. It takes less than an hour a month to line one person up per week to help with this fundraiser. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate in contacting either Roy or myself and we can help you out. Thank you for considering this. |
Mike Abraniuk Earns Knight of the Quarter Award !!
November 28th is our Knight Christmas Party and Fraternity Night Great time for the Knights and their families to get together for a nice social evening of great food, lots of laughs, fraternity, and Christmas spirit. It will begin at 6pm, Saturday November 28th, and will be at the Schubert Centre. Tickets are $15.00 each with children 12 and under free. There will be a turkey dinner with all the usual trimmings. There will be door prizes, fun for the kids, Christmas songs, possibly even Santa. Let's make this a huge event. We have many new Knights, so let's get a great turnout to welcome them into the fraternity. Please contact Bert Niehaus or Dale Hofer for tickets. |

Corporate Sunday Proper Protocol At our general meeting this week, a discussion was had concerning the chatting going on a the back of the church while waiting for communion. This is a time of reflection and preparation to receive our Lord. Please respect the preparation time of your fellow Knights, form a line, and proceed to receive our Lord. Part of the reason we do this is to draw attention to the Knights, so as people are watching us, we need to lead by example. Thank you. |

Rememberance Day Ceremonies Brothers, every year the Knights of Columbus lay a wreath at the Rememberance Day Ceremonies at the Multiplex. This year is no exception. We will be meeting in the parking lot near the lower level doors at 10:15 on the 11th, and will go into formation at 10:30. Thank you for attending this event. |
